✅ as is

  • そのままの状態
  • = as it is / that way

e.g.) A: Shall I change the font size? B: No, leave it as is.

A: Would you like it gift wrapped? B: As is, please.

A: Shall I heat it for you? B: It’s fine as is, thank you.

✅ 花粉症

日常会話では単に、I have allergies. が一般的。 I have hay fever. は最近使われなくなってきたらしい。 ちゃんと花粉って言いたいときは I have a pollen allergy.

e.g.) My pollen allergy is killing me. My nose is running and I can't stop sneezing.

  • My head is killing me. のように、カジュアルにそれがめっちゃ辛いことを言える表現。

I have a runny nose.

  • a runny nose = 鼻水が出る鼻のことなので、a が付くことに注意！

My eyes itch (like crazy).

  • itchは動詞。My eyes are itchy. とも言える。
  • 変わった表現として、I have itchy feet. は「旅行に行きたくてうずうずする」というイギリスやオーストラリアでつかわれる表現もある。
  • like crazyは「めちゃくちゃに」「猛烈に」
  • miss you like crazy (これはちょっと古い感じらしい) とか、run like crazy のように使う。

✅ 〇〇したくて仕方ない → want/need/miss 〜 so badly

e.g.) I wanted that so badly.

I miss her so badly.

The building is badly in need of repair.

らしい。日本語の「やばいね！」みたいな感じかな？
